Working Cats Program

What is a working cat?

This program is designed to find outdoor homes for feral, community cats that find their way to our shelter. If they are unable to be returned to their original habitat in addition to being unsocialized with humans, the cat qualifies for this program. All cats qualifying for the working cat program will be spayed/neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up to date on rabies vaccination prior to going home. There is no adoption fee for working cats. A donation is always welcome, however, to enable us to continue this program!

Working cats may be adopted to barn homes, wineries, breweries, cat-safe warehouses, and many other options. The adopter must provide food and water daily. Future medical care and maintaining current vaccinations is also the adopter's responsibility.

To qualify as a working cat home, you must live away from busy roads and have no neighbors near by. Ensure your city or county allows free roaming cats. A minimum of 2 working cats must go home at a time unless you have an established colony on site already. Adopters must have the ability to contain the adopted cat(s) for a minimum of 2 but preferably 4 weeks before allowing them more freedom to roam the property. This ensures they are able to establish territory and learn where their food source will be. Proof of current address is required. The cat chosen for your working cat home will be determined by the staff; we are unable to accommodate gender/color requests.

Interested?

We accept applications of interest for working cats through the button below. We will then contact you when we have a working cat in search of a home if your property is a qualifier!
