Adoption Regulations

Adoption requirements:

  • 18 years of age.
  • Proof of residence.
  • Proof of income ( we don't care where you work or what you do, just that you have an income). This can be shown via direct deposit receipt, pay stub or online bank statements. We do not keep a copy, this is a visual confirmation.
  • Landlord approval if you rent your home.

*Bring all of this information with you if you plan to adopt.

Other rules and regulations:

  • Adoptions must be done in person.  Please call if traveling a long distance to verify availability.
  • If adopting a dog into a home with a dog, a meet and greet will be required.
  • If children live in the home, we encourage that the child or children meet the pet prior to adoption.

Health of adoptable pets

Our animals come from various environments and their medical history is typically unknown to us.  We conduct a health and temperament test on every animal in our shelter prior to adoption.  We make every effort possible to ensure that animals are healthy both mentally and physically when making them available for adoption. All adopted animals must receive a physical from a licensed vet within 10 working days of placement in a new home.

Breed Specific Adoptions

As part of our mission to adopt pets into loving and responsible homes, we offer pre-adoption education sessions for more challenging breeds.  We also reserve the right to perform a property check as needed, based on the individual pet being adopted.
